Comitas Tramontana Park is in Platges de Fornells, Menorca, with wonderful views of Cavalleria Lighthouse and Cala Tirant, one of the best-known beaches in the area.
What we liked most was the setting. The whitewashed cottages look out over the sea from the cliff, and the grounds are beautifully kept. It’s a peaceful spot for a few days away, especially if you’re planning a family holiday in Menorca (guide in Spanish).
The aparthotel

The cottages are built around a bright courtyard with a pool. On the other side, the grounds look out to sea from the top of a low cliff.
When we stayed, the pool had a ramp leading gently into the water, which we appreciated with children in tow. Even the deep end didn’t seem particularly deep to us. There’s also a small children’s pool area.
The aparthotel has the following facilities
- Car and bicycle hire.
- During our stay, a medical service was available and the restaurant had highchairs.
- A sea-view restaurant with buffet breakfast and dinner and an à la carte lunch. VisitMenorca lists an all-inclusive option. Which meals are included depends on the board option you book.
- A bar with a terrace overlooking the sea.
- Live music several evenings a week.
The apartments were our favourite part of the complex. They’re built in the traditional Menorcan style and come with one to three bedrooms, with sea-view options available. They suit couples, families or groups of friends. The three-bedroom apartment has two bathrooms and sleeps up to seven adults.
The apartments come with kitchen utensils, a fridge and a microwave. Cooling varies by apartment. During our stay, we saw rooms with air conditioning, a ceiling fan or both.
The only drawback for us with young children was the stairs. The complex is built on several levels, and there was no lift between them when we stayed. The layout is part of its charm, but if you’re bringing a pushchair, it’s worth asking for a ground-floor apartment.
We really enjoyed our stay. The staff looked after us well, especially at reception. Both the hotel and the surrounding area are quiet, which made it a lovely place to come back to after a day out. Its location halfway along the north coast made it a handy base for exploring Menorca by car.
Cala Tirant and Fornells
The aparthotel is close to Cala Tirant. There’s a small bathing area beside the resort and a wider stretch of dark sand and rock on the other side. We found the water clear and calm, though a northerly wind can change sea conditions here. The Camí de Cavalls coastal trail passes through Cala Tirant.

There’s a supermarket nearby, along with several restaurants and playgrounds with swings. The nearby water park is part of the FERGUS Club Carema Splash resort.
Fornells and its harbour are a short drive away and well worth a visit. The village gets lively in summer, with good restaurants, several ice cream shops and a lovely old centre of whitewashed houses. Two historic buildings are worth looking out for.
- Fornells Tower is open to visitors and has wonderful views. One of many defensive towers around Menorca, it was built between 1801 and 1802 to watch over the harbour entrance and protect the castle.
- Castell de Sant Antoni was built on the harbour in the 17th century, and the village grew up around it. Only a few parts of the original building survive, but it’s still worth a look.
Finally, we’d make time for Cavalleria Lighthouse. You can see it from almost anywhere in the hotel.

It’s about a 20-minute drive from the hotel. We went just before sunset and were glad we did, though the aparthotel terrace is also a lovely spot to watch the sun go down over a drink.
It’s one of our five favourite lighthouses in Menorca, along with Artrutx, Punta Nati, Favàritx and Illa de l’Aire.
Cavalleria’s white tower is 15 metres tall and stands on a cliff 94 metres above sea level.
The Cap de Cavalleria visitor centre is in the lighthouse complex and opens during the tourist season. There’s also a café bar with a terrace.
