In 2011, while looking for things to do in Mallorca with our daughters, we realised there was very little information aimed at families. Finding a suitable walk, a quiet beach or an interesting place to visit with children was not as easy as it might seem today.
That was how Turisme Petit began.
What started as a personal project grew gradually, without major campaigns or commercial ambitions. We simply wanted to share the places we were discovering and thought other families would enjoy too.
The walks, beaches, villages and recommendations we share draw on experiences enjoyed by our own family. That personal approach remains the project’s defining characteristic.
There is a big difference between recommending somewhere because it appears in a brochure and recommending it after visiting yourself. From the beginning, we decided that Turisme Petit would be built on experiences we had explored and enjoyed first-hand.
Our family has visited the walks, beaches, museums and villages we review. On each outing, we take notes, photograph important points along the way and gather the practical information that can help other families enjoy their visit with confidence.
Over the years, this way of working has become the essence of Turisme Petit. Our aim is to offer useful, honest and well-documented recommendations, helping each family choose experiences that suit their children.
That philosophy continues to guide the project more than a decade later.
Over the years, Turisme Petit has grown from a small personal project into a trusted resource for thousands of families looking for inspiration to explore Mallorca and other destinations with children.
That growth has led to collaborations with the media, public institutions, tourism businesses and publishing projects, always with the same aim: to raise the profile of family travel and share useful experiences with families.
These collaborations have included publishing the Turisme Petit guidebook, appearing on radio and television, creating content for media outlets and businesses, and working with the Agència de Turisme de les Illes Balears on initiatives promoting family tourism.
Each experience has helped the project grow, while our approach remains the same: exploring new places, documenting them carefully and sharing what we learn so other families can enjoy their visits with confidence.
Turisme Petit has had the opportunity to take part in many projects connected with family travel.
These are just some of the highlights:
Mallorca has always been at the heart of Turisme Petit. Over time, the project also began helping families plan their travels beyond the island.
New guides, city breaks and ideas for exploring destinations with children gradually followed. European cities, theme parks and longer family trips became part of the project’s regular content, guided by the same commitment to sharing first-hand experiences.
Among these destinations, Disneyland Paris holds a special place. With practical information regularly updated and based on our own visits, Turisme Petit has become an established resource in Spain for families planning a trip to Disneyland Paris.
This development allowed Turisme Petit to broaden its scope while retaining its character. Mallorca remained the starting point, and the same commitment to practical information, original photography and real experiences shaped every new destination we covered.
Each Turisme Petit article involves much more than gathering information. Our commitment has always been to visit places ourselves before recommending them.
We walk the full routes, check access and parking, assess the difficulty and note the small details that can make a difference when travelling with children. On each outing, we take our own photographs, record approximate timings and collect practical information to help other families enjoy the experience.
Whenever possible, we point out important junctions, explain places where directions may be unclear and share advice based on our visits. Alongside showing somewhere worth exploring, we want to help make the visit straightforward, safe and enjoyable from the start.
Hundreds of articles have followed this philosophy over the years. Working from real experience and keeping information up to date remain central to our commitment to readers.
Whenever we notice significant changes, we review and update our content so that it remains useful over time.
The best recommendation is one you would give a friend. That has always been the philosophy behind Turisme Petit.

Along the way, we have taken part in radio and television programmes, interviews, specialist publications, tourism campaigns, publishing projects and training activities related to travel and digital marketing. We have also created content for businesses and institutions, guided by the approach we have followed since the beginning: offering useful, accessible information based on experience.
During the years when travel blogging was at its peak, we also took part in and organised blogger trips, working with destinations, businesses and institutions to share family travel ideas from a personal, first-hand perspective.
Organisations and brands that have worked with Turisme Petit include the Agència de Turisme de les Illes Balears (ATB), Baleària, Disneyland Paris, VisitBritain, Trivago, Destinia, Bestard, and a range of media outlets and family travel businesses.
These collaborations developed naturally as the project grew and earned people’s trust. We remember the places, but the relationships stay with us. Those connections are among the parts of this journey we are proudest of.
We do not know how many more walks we will publish or how many new destinations will become part of Turisme Petit in the years ahead. What we do know is that we will keep sharing the things we are excited to discover.
After all this time, we still believe that the best recommendations come from curiosity, experience and a desire to help other families enjoy the journey.
Thank you for being part of our story. See you on the next walk.
Tomeu Fiol is a photographer and the creator of Turisme Petit, an independent project founded in 2011 out of his passion for discovering and sharing places to enjoy as a family. Mallorca is at the heart of the project, although over the years he has also documented other family travel destinations. Many of the experiences he shares were enjoyed with his own family, making Turisme Petit a personal project with a first-hand perspective.
Turisme Petit began with a simple aim: to help families discover charming places and enjoy memorable experiences together. Today, it brings together more than a decade of recommendations, photographs and guides, created with the same spirit that inspired the project from the start.
