Els Calderers House Museum in Sant Joan

November 6, 2026
Els Calderers manor house in Sant Joan

Els Calderers is a manor house museum near Sant Joan, in Mallorca. The estate is one of the best examples of a traditional rural property in the Pla de Mallorca, and its history goes back to 1285.

It was already recorded as belonging to the Calderers family in 1285, which is where the estate gets its name. In the 18th century it passed to the Verí family, who built the manor house you see on arrival. The estate opened as a museum in 1993.

Visiting Els Calderers

Inside Els Calderers manor house

The visit takes in two main areas, the manor house and the grounds and outbuildings.

Inside the house

We started inside the manor house. The rooms are full of period objects and little details, so we’d take our time looking around.

You can see the bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, sewing room and main dining room. The little garden courtyard at the heart of the house deserves a look of its own.

The gardens and farm buildings at Els Calderers

Outside, you can walk through the gardens and visit farm buildings such as the stable and animal pens. We saw some local breeds on our visit, and the Mallorcan black pig was one that caught our eye.

Some of the outbuildings, including the blacksmith’s workshop, still contain period tools.

It’s worth wandering around the grounds for a little while. There are a few surprises and lovely views towards the village of Sant Joan.

Els Calderers makes for a pleasant family visit and gives you a sense of how people lived and worked on a traditional Mallorcan estate.
