Cala Romàntica and Cala Mandia are two of Mallorca’s loveliest beaches, with clear water and rocky sides framing the sand. Both are on the Manacor coast near Porto Cristo, so it’s easy to visit them on the same day.
Cala Romàntica

Its traditional name is s’Estany d’en Mas, though it’s also known as Cala Romàntica or Cala Romántica. It lies south of Porto Cristo, in the municipality of Manacor.
Cala Romàntica is a white-sand beach between limestone cliffs. The sand stretches inland along the bed of the Torrent des Morts.
It’s a good choice with young children when the sea is calm. There’s little natural shade, but sun loungers and parasols are available to hire during the season.
There are several restaurants nearby. You can park close to the beach, though spaces are harder to find in summer. Toilets and foot showers are available during the season.
Parking · Near the beach.
Accessibility · Reserved parking space, ramp, walkway, accessible toilet and amphibious beach chair.
In season · Lifeguards, toilets, foot showers, sun lounger and parasol hire.
Natural shade · Limited.
Cala Mandia

Cala Mendia, also known as Cala Mandia, has fine white sand and rocky sides. It feels more tucked away than Cala Romàntica, and the water is particularly clear on calm days.
It’s another good spot to visit with children. As at Cala Romàntica, natural shade is scarce and there are sun loungers and parasols to hire during the season.
You can walk from Cala Mendia to Cala Anguila. A coastal path of about 250 metres crosses the rocky headland between the two beaches. Shoes are a better choice than flip-flops for this stretch.
Parking · Free car park near the beach.
Accessibility · Reserved parking space, walkway and accessible toilet.
In season · Lifeguards, toilets, foot showers, sun lounger and parasol hire.
Natural shade · Limited.
Both coves have fine sand and make for a good family beach day. If you’d like to add a short walk to your swim, Cala Mendia has Cala Anguila right next door.
While you’re in the area, we recommend a visit to Porto Cristo harbour or to two of Mallorca’s best-known caves, the Drach Caves and the Hams Caves (guides in Spanish).
If you’re travelling without a car, TIB bus 427 runs between Porto Cristo, Cala Mendia and Cala Romàntica during the season.
